The Ford Focus has cemented its place in the marque's local line-up after being named the best small car in the 2011 Drive Car of the Year awards.
"Widely heralded as smoother on the move and less jerky at low speed than the [Volkswagen] Golf’s similar transmission" according to Drive, the dual-clutch gearbox helped the Ford Focus to stand out against the rest of the pack.
"I think there is not an area of this car that is not improved over its predecessor," one judge said. Judges also noted the interior comfort and ample storage of the car, as well as its handling and fuel economy - boosted by the six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission and Torque Vectoring Control.
The Ford Focus has also followed in the footsteps of its marque sibling the Ford Fiesta by being included in the naming rights for an annual outdoor event.
The Ford Focus Moonlight Cinema showcases an extensive schedule of classic, cult and new release films and provides the ultimate outdoor cinema experience of the summer.
The event will take place in parks around Australia and will feature in Brisbane Powerhouse's New Farm Park until 26 February 2012.
